Operating mode
How the High School operates ?
FASN offers classes from 9 to 12 grade.
Classes run from 7:20 AM to 4:00 PM maximum. In the morning, students follow the American timetable until 12:35 PM.
American courses are divided into 4 periods of 1h30 called “blocks”, the 4th being devoted to the first FASN course. The afternoon FASN timetable varies according to the level and specialization chosen for the first and final years.
The American curriculum
It lasts 4 years, culminating in a high school diploma.
French curriculum
Some subjects are studied in class with FASN teachers. Others are studied at home, but students can manage the organization of this independent work flexibly, according to their plans and abilities.
This mode of operation has the advantage of :
– avoid a break with the French school system, and make it easier to return to French schools;
– almost total immersion in the American system;
– relieving the burden on parents and children, since part of the teaching is handled by FASN;
– develop children’s adaptability, as they gradually learn to juggle two different systems in terms of educational and social codes and languages;
– build relationships with Americans and French.
The high school level is not approved by the French Ministry of Education. However, MLF and CNED are operators who guarantee the conformity of the teaching.
FASN teachers using CNED courses can have 2 different profiles:
– teachers from the French Ministry of Education ;
– staff recruited locally according to their fields and levels of study.
