American Schools

General rule for a student enrolled only in the American curriculum: You must reside within a defined area (district) to enroll in a specific public school. Students can then benefit from school transportation.

Rule for an EFAN student: read the information below to choose your accommodation so that you can register your child at EFAN and benefit, if you wish, from the school bus. 

School District & EFAN/FASN

If you want your child to attend a school in:

IN NORFOLK

You can reside anywhere in Virginia
Except for a kindergartner who must reside in Norfolk.

Schools with FASN program :

  • Crossroads Elementary (Norfolk)
  • Crossroads Middle school (Norfolk)

 

IN VIRGINIA BEACH

You have to reside only in Virginia Beach.

Attention: For elementary students, if you are outside the school zone, you will need to submit an out-of-zone request and obtain approval from the principal of John B. Dey. 

Schools with FASN program:

  • Elementary John B Dey*
  • Great Neck Middle school
  • Cox High school

School transportation & EFAN/FASN

General rule: only students residing within the school district can use the school bus. This rule applies to all EFAN students, thus:

  • If you live within the school district, your child will be able to ride the school bus.
  • If you do not live within the school district, you can enroll your child in EFAN (under the conditions outlined above), but you will need to arrange all transportation yourself.

EFAN students (who live within the school district) have different schedules from American students and can only take the school bus once a day.

Bus ride in the morning only:

Virginia Beach:

  • John B Dey Elementary
  • Cox High School

Norfolk:

  • Crossroads Elementary and Middle School
  • Granby High School

Bus ride in the afternoon only:

Virginia Beach: Great Neck Middle School
