Enrollment in the american schools
Enrollment in the American public schools is separate from the enrollment process at EFAN/FASN. It is the family’s responsibility to complete all necessary steps.
A four steps registration
- You can only complete these steps in person once you have a residence, as you will need to present two proofs of residency documents.
- Enrollment can be done online or by paper application. Please note that online enrollment is only possible under certain conditions. To obtain the application:
– Download it from the school or city website
– Pick it up in person at the office during your visit of the school. - Before any appointment, the student must undergo a physical exam at an American medical practice to validate vaccinations and complete the Commonwealth of Virginia School Entrance Health Form and the Certification of Immunization (see vaccination section).
- Finally, once all the previous steps are completed, and to finalize the enrollment, you must visit the school with your child. You will need to make an appointment, (see the institutions tab for contact information for each school). For some grades, you will meet with a counselor to elaborate your child’s schedule.
